Carly Casternovia

Since a young age, my older brother would share with me stories and images of the time he would spend in the San Juans. I would fantasize the immense and rugged, beautiful mountain range which lead me to moving to the remote town of Telluride, in 2017. Instantly, I fell in love with all the mountains had to offer.

Growing up as a gymnast, my first time rock climbing brought back that nostalgic feeling of undeniable balance and dynamic movement which kept me captivated. The San Juans, and nearby sandstone desert climbing became my playground on stunning rock and ice.

I began working for Mountain Trip’s local program in May, 2019, guiding the via ferrata, rock and ice. I hold a Wilderness First Responder and Single Pitch Instructor certification, with a Rock Guide Course coming up in the spring followed by a trip up Denali’s West Buttress as an Apprentice guide.

If I’m not outdoors on a romp, you can find me teaching a physical therapy based style of pilates, baking tasty treats or scheming future objectives.
