Karl Welter

Karl WelterI started loving adventure at a young age, in Wisconsin. Backpacking, family ski trips, fishing and hunting stoked the fire. I was determined to live a mountain life, so after attending college where I  studied Geography, I moved to Colorado’s San Juan mountains in 2006.

I’ve guided wilderness therapy, backpacking, climbing and skiing ever since, and work as a member of the Telluride Ski Resort Ski Patrol during the winter. Instructing AIARE’s Avalanche Level 1 courses has been a fun sideline winter job. I also love paragliding, especially in Telluride.

Ed Abbey is my favorite author and Jack White’s my man for rock and roll. I just started with Mountain Trip for the 2015 season, but I hope to continue being part of this awesome family.

Food for thought – Never miss a sunset. “More tape is better. Gravity isn’t just a good idea, it’s the Law!”
