Here’s our final dispatch from the trekking crew. Two days ago our small group left Namche Bazaar after a relaxing morning visiting the Sherpa Museum that was full of Everest memorabilia and artifacts from the local Sherpa culture.
Our route to Phakding took us quickly (and steeply) down to the thicker air along side the Dudh Kosi and across numerous high cable bridges as the trail crisscrossed the canyon en route down river to the village of Phakding where we spent the night.
Our final day on the trail was the short uphill stretch to Lukla. He had all afternoon to relax and purchase a few Nepali gifts (hopefully for those of you reading this). Early this morning we got on the first flight out of Lukla to Kathmandu.
I’ll tell you this now that we’re safely in Kathmandu that Lukla has a very short and steeply sloped runway that leads to a very “exciting” takeoff and landing.
Everyone will be home soon. Thanks for the support on this Everest Base Camp trek!
