After a couple of days of no contact, we heard that the May 26th Team has descended back to Base Camp and is hoping to fly off the mountain. They made a hard fought push for the summit, reaching 19,500′, before turning back in rough weather.
They hoped to attempt the summit again, but instead spent some time in very challenging, windy conditions at high camp. By all accounts, it was a scary, tough time for the team.
When the opportunity presented itself, they packed up camp and descended the mountain, arriving at Base Camp this afternoon.
The weather is still quite bad, and they need some improvement before they can fly from the glacier.
This was a hard fought, valiant effort by a strong team of climbers. Good job!
